It seems the
Lost Planet "MT Framework" engine uses more cores efficiently when you're in the Cave level, but not when you're out in the Snow. The Phenoms beat their dual-core blue rivals until you get outside where suddenly the performance really tanks. The "MT" part stands for "Multi-Threaded" because it's optimised for systems like the Xbox 360 and PS3, but it also seems that a combination of cores and sheer MHz is what you need here.

At high resolution the need for raw speed seems overwhelming, even four cores can't save the Phenom and the less than single frame per second performance increase between 2.2GHz and 2.6GHz is hardly something to write home about.
